Jonas Wood: Prints
This book was published on the occasion of the exhibition Jonas Wood: Prints at Gagosian, 976 Madison Avenue, New York. Revealing Wood’s deep attunement to the interplay of content and form, line and shape, color and space, the exhibition—the first survey of prints by the artist—traced the evolution of his unique visual vocabulary through his printing practice.
The catalog reproduces more than forty limited-edition prints made between 2004 and 2018 in which Wood explores visual themes including museum interiors, tennis courts, logos, and ceramics that are often based on the work of his wife, Shio Kusaka. The plates are organized into sections representing various printmaking studios with which Wood has collaborated—including Cirrus Editions Ltd., Counter Editions, Hamilton Press, and Wavelength Press, among others—and features Wood’s insights about his process and inspiration. The book also includes an interview between Wood and the legendary Los Angeles–based printmaker Jacob Samuel.
